President of the Boston Fed speaks in Worcester. Here’s what she said about the economy

WORCESTER — The U.S. economy is in a “good place” and Worcester’s economic revitalization the past decade has come from a variety of factors, Susan M. Collins, president and CEO of the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston, said Wednesday.

Collins spoke at the Worcester Regional Research Bureau’s 39th annual meeting at the DCU Center.

Recent developments have increased my confidence that inflation will return to the Federal Open Market Committee’s 2% target in a timely way — and crucially, amid a healthy labor market,” Collins said in her prepared remarks. (On Thursday morning, after Collins’s speech, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics announced that prices in September had risen 2.4% on a yearly basis, down from the previous report but somewhat higher than had been forecast.)
