Panelists at a virtual forum Monday night brainstormed how to fund, implement, and recruit support for a fare-free Worcester Regional Transit Authority, saying now is the time for free bus service in Worcester.
“Realizing how deep our crises are right now – public health, economic, climate, racial equity, etc. – now is the moment for thinking big,” Boston City Councilor Michelle Wu said at the forum held by the Zero Fare WRTA Coalition. “When you have the system figures, the strong support of the local representative and senator, and the opportunity to build a truly statewide coalition with this, now is the moment to push.”
