It’s been roughly eight months since the Worcester Regional Research Bureau broached the idea of a fare-free bus system for the Worcester Regional Transit Authority, but not much has happened at City Hall to follow up.
While several city councilors have said the idea is worth looking into, the City Council Public Service and Transportation Committee, which oversees issues related to the WRTA, never held a public hearing on it.
But the three-member committee has a new chairman, Councilor-at-Large Gary Rosen, and he appears ready to jump-start those discussions by calling for public hearings.
