WORCESTER – The Worcester schools’ coordinator of buildings and grounds, two Worcester Public Works and Parks Department employees, and a foreman in the Douglas Highway Department are this year’s recipients of the Thomas S. Green Public Service Award, the Worcester Regional Research Bureau announced Wednesday.
The annual award, now in its 31st year, recognizes people in the region who demonstrate four qualities, according to the bureau: exceptional competence, enthusiastic performance of tasks, a cooperative and friendly attitude, and community involvement outside the scope of their job.
The 2019 award winners are Thomas Barrett, who runs the Worcester school system’s buildings and grounds division; Nicole Cooney, the finance manager for the Worcester DPW; Michael Daigneault, assistant director of water in the DPW’s water division, and Adam Furno, working foreman for the Douglas Highway Department.
