WORCESTER – It was the media’s turn to answer questions Tuesday at the College of the Holy Cross, as a panel of news professionals discussed diversity, social media and the changing nature of the business at a forum moderated by Northeastern University Professor Dan Kennedy.
“It’s a challenging, challenging time in the media,” Walter Bird Jr., editor of Worcester Magazine, told the audience at the Hogan Campus Center. “The line is thin between survival and not surviving,” he said, as newsroom staffs grow smaller and news audiences change.
Mr. Bird was one of several city media leaders to offer perspective on how the news is covered during a wide-ranging discussion sponsored by the Worcester Regional Research Bureau. Charter TV3 News Supervisor Andy Lacombe, WTAG Radio host Jordan Levy and Telegram & Gazette Publisher James F. Normandin also participated.
