Retirees, school buses in spotlight
The city is on an unsustainable course financially, the Research Bureau states in its latest report.
The reason is straightforward, and it’s nothing we haven’t often heard before, and said ourselves. Worcester’s revenues from state aid, property taxes and fees can’t keep up with its rising expenditures for health insurance and pension benefits for city employees and retirees.
“Worcester’s FY14 Budget: Making Ends Meet” recommends several steps that would improve the picture.
