WORCESTER – Described by school officials as aspirational as well as challenging, the long-awaited next strategic plan for the district finally landed Thursday before the School Committee, which will now embark on long-term deliberations to determine whether and how to implement the document.
A key message delivered by committee members at their meeting Thursday and by architects of the plan is they want to above all ensure that goals and ideas in the proposal are not simply ignored over time.
“This is probably one of the most important things we as a School Committee can do for this city,” said Mayor Joseph Petty, chairman of the School Committee. “This can’t just sit on the shelf – too much time and effort has gone into it.”
