WORCESTER – Members of an expert panel on Wednesday suggested the city’s upcoming superintendent search should be preceded by a thorough investigation of what residents want from the district and its new leader.
The discussion accompanied the release of a report by the Worcester Education Collaborative and Worcester Regional Research Bureau that recommends the city conduct an evaluation of the school system and develop a strategic vision in connection with the transition to the new school chief.
After the departure of former superintendent Melinda J. Boone in November, the School Committee plans to begin a search for her permanent replacement soon. The board is scheduled to discuss next steps, including the possible selection of a search consultant, at its meeting next Thursday.
