When it comes to public participation in Worcester’s municipal government, the numbers certainly leave a lot to be desired.
In fact, they are downright poor.
In a report issued by The Research Bureau last week in which it raised several concerns about the lack of civic involvement in Worcester, the group pointed out how voter participation in municipal elections has plummeted during the past decade.
Between 2001 and 2013, the average percentage of registered voters participating in municipal elections was 21 percent, with a low of 14 percent in 2013, according to the report.
