STUDY: STUDENTS EAGER TO LEAVE
WORCESTER — The Worcester Regional Research Bureau has found that keeping college graduates in the city remains a problem.
An August study of 260 participants from five local universities found that, in a city with approximately 6,500 people graduating from college every year, just 18 percent say they plan to stay in Worcester after graduation and 44 percent plan to move out of state. The rest said they would move to other Central Massachusetts communities or the Boston metropolitan area.
The Research Bureau noted the finding is very similar to a report issued in 2005 that looked at the same issue. Experts from the nonprofit bureau said little had changed.
