WORCESTER — The Worcester Regional Transit Authority Advisory Board voted overwhelmingly Thursday to continue fare-free service until June 30, the end of the fiscal year.
But the board specifically stated that unless a new revenue source for fares was found by that time, fares would resume July 1.
“What (WRTA Administrator Dennis Lipka) and the administration did in March in 2020 was the right thing,” said Gary Rosen, advisory board member and a city councilor, referring to the suspension of the fare collection policy. “It’s still the right thing.”
