WORCESTER — The Worcester Regional Transit Authority will remain fare free at least until the end of the year, as advisory board members worried that reinstituting fares may be premature if COVID-19 surges in the fall.
“Months ago we went fare free because of the pandemic,” board member Gary Rosen, representing Worcester, said. “If it gets a lot worse … does it make sense to suddenly have a fare?”
Barbara Connelly, representing Grafton, said reinstituting — and then again rescinding — fares would be confusing for many riders.
